Dysport
Dysport® is an FDA-approved alternative to Botox® Cosmetic. Through a few carefully placed injections, Dysport can temporarily smooth and reduce the appearance of frown lines and forehead wrinkles.
Dysport with Dr. Jaibaji
Prior to treatment, your face will be cleansed with an antiseptic to prevent infection. A local anesthetic or topical numbing cream can be applied to minimize discomfort. Targeted muscles are then marked for injection. Using a thin needle, Dysport will be injected directly into the wrinkle-causing muscles.
Once injected, Dysport begins relaxing the intended muscles. This is done by blocking the neurotransmitters that would normally contract the treated facial muscles. The entire procedure takes less than 30 minutes. Dysport treatments can easily be combined with other facial procedures, including dermal fillers and skin resurfacing.
After Dysport Injections
Normal activities can be resumed immediately following treatment. There may be some redness around the treatment areas following injection. This redness should disappear in less than a week. Any visible swelling should go down in the first few days. Over-the-counter medication can be used to manage mild discomfort.
The final results should be visible in 2-5 days. You should protect the treatment area from sun for the first few weeks. The results will last for 3-6 months. Repeat treatments will be needed to maintain results long-term.
Potential complications with Dysport include numbness, discomfort and bruising. Additionally, it is possible to build up a tolerance to Dysport more easily than Botox, decreasing its effectiveness over time. All of the risks will be discussed at length during your consultation.
