Before and after breast Augmentation?

Your scars following breast augmentation will begin to fade in weeks and months after surgery  and will continue to improve over time.

Post breast augmentation activity?

We will provide you with special instructions on when to resume exercises and your normal activities. However, light activity is encouraged for the first two weeks following your procedure. On the other hand, No heavy lifting or strenuous activity should be done during the first 6 weeks after surgery. Full recovery may take six to eight weeks, at which time activities such as skiing, wakeboarding and contact sports can be undertaken safely. Listen to your surgeon’s recommendations.

Breast Implants Incision Techniques?

A breast augmentation procedure usually lasts one to two hours and is typically performed with general anesthesia. To minimize scar visibility, incisions are made in inconspicuous places. Therefore, they may be located:

• In the crease on the underside of the breast (commonly called inframammary),
• Around the areola, the darker skin around the nipple (commonly called periareolar), or
• In the armpit (transaxillary and not as commonly used)

Saline Implants

Saline implants are filled with sterile salt water. They’re inserted empty, and then filled once they’re in place. Since they are inserted empty, they require a smaller incision size. Saline breast implants are available to women 18 and older for breast augmentation and to women of any age for breast reconstruction. They are less expensive compared to silicone implants.

Silicone Implants

Silicone implants are pre-filled with silicone gel. Silicone gel implants are FDA approved and are stable durable and cohesive. Cohesive means that it will not flow out of the implants shell, even if they rupture. Since they are inserted pre-filled, they require a slightly larger incision. This implant, many women believe, feels and looks very natural in your body. These implants are available for women over the age of 22.

SIZING FOR YOUR SAN DIEGO BREAST IMPLANTS

Determining a cup size is not a consistent measurement and may vary from one bra manufacturer to another. However,No surgeon is able to guarantee a specific cup size following  Breast Augmentation.

Therefore, determining which implant size is best for you will depend on several factors;

1. Your desired look.
2. Shape and size of the breasts,
3. Your breast measurements.
4. Type of implant you choose.

During your consultation bring with you pictures of breast augmentation that you like and, in addition to ones you don’t like. This will give your surgeon information on what you expect. Using implant sizers and sometimes imaging will help you in determining the size of the implant. However, a big factor in determining the size of the implant is your anatomic measurements and the skin envelope.

Moreover, It is really helpful to you if you try to avoid using cup sizes as the goal for implant size. Bras come in different shapes and padding and the cup size will not be helpful in selecting the implant size.

Furthermore, Very large and heavy implants (for your specific anatomy) may not give you the desired look and potentially can “bottom out” over time. Unpredictable stretching and thinning of your skin tissue over the years is a  risk with larger and heavier implants and may potentially lead to further surgeries, such as breast lift, and more scars.

Your surgeon will take measurements of your anatomy to determine the range in size of implants best suited for your body frame.

Can I have another cosmetic procedure with breast augmentation?

If you are looking to have more than just breast augmentation you can ask Dr. Jaibaji, MD about combined procedures. Breast augmentation is frequently combined with other procedures. I have had my implants for 10 years; do I need to replace them?

The answer depends on the status of the breast and implants and, in addition, on your goals.

If the implants are intact, no capsular contracture, no pain and no change is breast shape then you don’t need to replace them.

However, Implant replacement is necessary for the following reasons:

1- Implant rupture or deflation.

2- Capsular contracture with pain and or deformity of one or both breasts.

3- Breast ptosis ( sagging)

4- If you desire to have bigger or smaller implants or different implant types. Like changing from saline to silicone.
